Symbol 17
Reincarnation, Cycles and Seasons

A Summary Explanation of Symbol No. 17 - Reincarnation, Cycles and Seasons

The symbol symbolises the various occurrences of the principle of the cycle. The four sub-principles that we know as the seasons of the year form parts of this principle. Winter is the epoch of darkness and coldness, where life or Nature manifests itself minimally. Spring brings light and warmth, making all life in Nature begin to bud and grow. In the summer, light and warmth culminate as life manifests itself to the full. In the autumn, light and warmth decrease, thus reducing the manifestation of life. Then winter returns. The same four principles of the seasons can be seen in the twenty-four-hour cycle, in the cycle of terrestrial life and in the cosmic spiral cycle.

The main details of the symbol:

  • The round figures at the top indicate from left to right the winter solstice, the vernal equinox, the summer solstice, the autumnal equinox and another winter solstice.
  • The horizontal sections at the top and bottom show the six kingdoms of the spiral cycle with their usual colours.

  • The section with the diagonal stripes symbolises the domain of the principles of the seasons. We see these principles in the cycle of the year, the terrestrial life cycle and the cosmic spiral cycle.

    • The section with the grey strips indicates winter, night, childhood as well as the second half of the animal kingdom and the whole of the real human kingdom.
    • The section with the green stripes indicates spring, morning, youth as well as the kingdom of wisdom and the first half of the divine world.
    • The section with the multi-coloured stripes indicates summer, noon, maturity as well as the second half of the divine world and the kingdom of bliss.
    • The section with the red strips indicates autumn, evening, old age as well as the plant kingdom and the first half of the animal kingdom.

  • The yellow and green horizontal cone-shaped figures indicate the development of feeling and intelligence respectively. Intellectualised feeling is absolute love, the basic keynote of the universe.
