The Human Being, and Animal and Vegetable Food
Symbol no. 38
38.1  The physical organisms of living beings
To an extraordinarily great extent living beings are created so as to have to live on the organisms, flesh and blood of other living beings. This means that it is vitally necessary for beings to kill in order to maintain their physical experience of life and their manifestation. This experience of life and manifestation is maintained by the being's physical organism. Since this organism consists of living microbeings, which we in our analyses have termed "life units", that are maintained by the principle of hunger and satiation, these microbeings must be kept alive through nutrition. They have to be satiated every day just like the originator of the organism. The living being must therefore eat food in order to keep its organism in a normal and usable state. But during the long process that the creation or evolution of the finished human being's organism requires, this organism has gone through many changes. It has gone through plant life forms, then through animal life forms and devil life forms in order finally to end by becoming the totally perfect human being in God's image after his likeness.
