The Combination of Basic Energies
All seven basic energies are present everywhere.  358. As we have seen in the foregoing passages, the total amount of energy or substance in the entire Universe consists of seven different basic types of energy or power. However, these basic types are combined in such a way that none of them exist in a completely pure state. Each of them is present everywhere and appears in everything. The presence of the seven basic energies can be demonstrated in every form of creation and thereby in every form of all that comes under the concept of "created things", whether these are flesh or blood, soil or sand, sea or sky, lead or down, or even love or hate; but these energies are not present in equal amounts or quantities. And it is precisely because of this very fact that there is altogether any basis for creation. If only one energy at a time existed in the consciousness, then no vibration, movement or function could possibly have come about; all would be stillness. Movement or vibration, and thereby all conscious life, is indeed, identical with the reaction of energies in contact with each other. But if they did not differ from each other, then of course no reaction could occur. The world would be a mere "nothing". Fortunately, however, this is the opposite of the actual fact. The world is not a "nothing", but a "something". So in this connection the term nothing could never be more than an expression for a thought-out opposite of this "something" which is the true reality.
All experience, all creation and all consciousness thus constitutes nothing more nor less than the reactions between the basic energies. And it is just on this account that these realities are defined as "cosmic chemistry". Thus, as we have already mentioned, the living being is a "cosmic chemist". The result of this is experience and manifestation. The material used for this "chemistry" consists of all the substance in the Universe which, as we have shown, exists in seven different basic types of energy, six of which constitute the immediate substance for temporal creation and experience, while the seventh forms the basis for the I's eternal existence and the release of fate.
