Livets Bog, vol. 1
"Holy wrath", "righteous indignation"
121. As terrestrial human beings are, for the most part, of the opinion that the attitude of their fellows towards spiritual matters is simply a question of will-power, and they are quite unaware that in reality - as we pointed out above - it is a question of development and aptitude, then very often they come to despise each other's opinions of life or ideas about existence. Such people are always under the illusion that their own specific concept of life, their own specific beliefs and ideas, are for certain the "one and only salvation", and on the strength of this assumption they become quite indignant with those of their fellows whose nature, experiences and aptitudes wholly determine that they are either so far behind or so far in advance of the others in development, that they are most definitely unable to share those special precepts and beliefs, and therefore are bound to have quite a different view of life. This unfortunate resentment has the form of intolerance, but under such guises as "holy wrath" and "righteous indignation" has actually caused much sorrow and suffering, being in its specific nature exactly as unjust and senseless as if one were to feel indignant with people who happened to be younger or older than oneself. So, in order to help terrestrial people to combat this resentment we will now clarify terrestrial mankind's various qualifications in receptivity to spiritual refinement, and in so doing aid it in overcoming intolerance. This is an absolute and unavoidable process for any seeker of Truth who desires to attain the "Great Birth", and thus gain cosmic consciousness and be filled with the clear divine power of vision and the sunlit way of the "Holy Spirit".
