Livets Bog, vol. 1
Sixth section. People who are completely dominated by sexuality and degeneration
132. Sixth section. In addition to the sections already described there is one more section of human beings within the area of the category of feeling. It consists of those in whom the sexual condition has taken complete possession of their emotional life. This means that their thinking and their interests are completely dominated by their sexuality. Many of these people have obtained financial independence from inherited or other unearned wealth, and they go from one love affair to the next, from marriage to marriage, as well as being habitués of night-clubs, dance-halls and brothels. Their sexuality has become an insatiable vice, carrying with it other vices such as gluttony and drunkenness. The broken-down and overstrained body must have stimulants - spirits, wine, morphia, cocaine, tobacco, opium and the like. In other people in the same section the dominating sexuality finds expression in perversities and excesses of every kind, even extending to murder and mutilation. In other less wealthy beings - even in both sexes - their insatiable sexuality finds expression in prostitution, which then leads to an aversion for proper work and to a condition that develops largely into vagabondage, homelessness, crime, depression and sometimes even to suicide. So here we have the purest degeneration. The new world impulse will not meet much resistance from those in the sixth section, nor - regarding the wider majority - will it arouse any particular interest in them during their present lifetime. As described later on in Livets Bog it will not be until their future coming lives, when the new inborn effects of the destructive behaviour in their present life begin to find expression in each individual as a deformed and chronically diseased body with frail nerves and weak brain, whole or partial insanity and mental deficiency, that the individual's meeting with the direct speech of life will finally influence him in such a way that in a following life he will be born with a dawning longing for a divine existence. To this individual, the analysis and guidance from the new world impulse will be of immediate importance, and the "Prodigal Son" will be upon his way to the "Eternal Father".
