141. To everybody in Group B then, faith will constitute the most important religious factor of consciousness.
But just as knowledge cannot exist except on a basis of experience and analysis, then neither can faith exist except on a basis of some particularly outstanding guiding realities which are ideal for its nature.
These realities are of a kind which directly influence those particular people's faculty of feeling, causing a kind of harmony and balance between it and the laws belonging to that step in development on which those people stand.
These realities enable faith to be maintained and religious power and nutrition given to individuals without any need for reasonable arguments, and they are known in life as
rites of cult and mystery, "holy" books, rituals, ceremonies, sacraments and christenings, as well as, to a certain degree, the manifestations of prophets and world redeemers.
Just as a piece of music can have a direct effect on a terrestrial person's faculty of feeling and can there produce a certain mood (indeed, it can even affect animals, although they have no intelligent idea of what is actually happening)
so, in the same way, the above-mentioned realities also have their effect on the faculty of feeling of those individuals who are receptive to divine suggestion, and will evoke faith without any real intelligent understanding or knowledge.
And, as mentioned before, faith opens up the mentality to the flow of divine cosmic power represented by those realities.
Likewise, as also mentioned before, with this power there is released a harmony and a balance between the individual in question and the most important ideal belonging to that step in evolution where that individual temporarily finds himself.
Through this influence on their faculty of feeling, all those within Group B will thus be enabled to fulfil their needs for spiritual and cosmic power.
