Livets Bog, vol. 1
The function of intelligence in terrestrial mankind appearing automatically along with an attitude of love. Terrestrial mankind does not yet experience intuition as conscious sight but only as fragments of higher knowledge
215. As a terrestrial person still does not sense or feel his "gold copies" because of the primitive standard of his body of memory, he is consequently without feeling regarding the function of intuition in the same way as he is without feeling regarding his own nail and hair cutting. So the intuition process is experienced in the form of "seeing", not in the form of feeling. But terrestrial mankind's body of intuition still consists of a small weak embryonic kernel and incarnates in the slightly more advanced embryo of the body of intelligence. In the same way it again incarnates in the still further advanced embryonic body of feeling which in the individual's physical life incarnates in the body of gravity. The latter is the physical body which has long since been the fundamentally supporting body for consciousness; that is, where terrestrial mankind has its basic day-consciousness. So the intuitive "seeing" is of a correspondingly weak nature and, as mentioned, is not under the control of the will but occurs in some way automatically where the functions of intelligence and feeling are released as pure love. Then the embryonic body of intuition begins to function and the individual "sees" into the "history of the universe". This is the beginning of that form of life which in its culmination supports the plane of existence expressed in Livets Bog as the "divine world". But as that "seeing" in terrestrial mankind is being supported only by an embryonic kernel it will necessarily have a correspondingly primitive and still unconscious form, meaning that it still cannot be experienced at all as "seeing" but only as a few suddenly arising glimpses in the mental world about a higher knowledge or form of consciousness. These glimpses can be only more or less profound according to how much an individual has been purified of inferior tendencies in his consciousness.
