37. The Divine Creative Principle's total unfolding over the whole universe therefore manifests itself in the form of a light and a dark radiation. Consequently, living beings' eternal evolutionary journey goes through one zone where the dark radiation dominates and next through a zone where the light radiation animates all things. Therefore, those two zones together make up an area of development in which the life experience of living beings will arrive at a culmination of cosmic darkness and light in exactly the same degree. When a living being has passed through such an area, it has developed its qualities so greatly, that its life experience can be brought further on into a new area of the same kind - but of course in a higher form - and so it proceeds continuously. Through this process the eternal life of living beings comes to shape itself as an experience of alternating periods of light and dark - the "days" and "nights" of eternal life. In this way, the Divine Creative Principle through the power of its two contrasting poles, sends its spiritual "days" and "nights" throughout the universe just as, in the same way, it has allowed the suns, in connection with their planets, to send days and nights into the physical world.
