310. It becomes evident through matter or substances in existence, that their reactions are governed by a law and that they interact each in their own particular and eternally changeless way. But as we shall see in the following chapter, since each single substance's particular mode of reacting is an indispensable means or tool for the possibility of the I to create – that is, to fulfil its wishes and desires – then it becomes clear that the law governing the reaction of substances is the same as the culmination of love. It is the Godhead's gift to the I; because of this it can think and act; it can create its own fate, characterize the variations of its own appearance in the form of mineral, plant, animal, human being and all the many still higher forms of existence. It is this knowledge which makes an individual a genius, a professor, a doctor or a teacher; it is this knowledge which makes the individual blessed; it is this knowledge which is the light of all worlds. And it is the ignorance of this that lights the fire of hate and makes people aspirants of bodily injury, sorrow and death; it is the ignorance of this that determines the lower zones of existence and envelops the world in darkness.
      On the strength of the law governing the reaction of substances, the Godhead thus raises the I's of all living beings to the level of His own throne. Spread out before it lies each and every substance or kind of matter in the Universe, each with its own reaction at the service of the I's, each with its own individual expression of energy placed at the disposal of the I's, the sons of God. And throughout all space resound these words: "You are free to use all these forces to serve you. They will obey to the letter your least command, suggestion or sigh. But they will not waver a fraction of a hair's breadth from their appointed task. Thus, for each particular creation there has to be the corresponding particular forces, substances and energies. If you choose incorrectly you will not attain your desired goal. The incorrect energies will work against your creation and your wish will not be fulfilled. Darkness and delusion will reign where you thought to create light. Only the correct combinations – the correct use of the forces or substances in the Universe – can give your creation light and reveal you as being in My image after My likeness, enfolded in the eternal radiance of My love".
