Livets Bog, vol. 2
The three X's are proof that every kind of creation has as its source a livingbeing.
316. In this way each detail of everything that can be sensed directly expresses a triune principle. Such a detail is the result of creation, and as such may – with reference to the above – be expressed as "X3". It is irrefutable proof of the existence of a previous creative ability. But the faculty for manifesting logical and planned creation is indeed another infallible proof of previous logical thinking. As thinking cannot, however, exist independently, but solely in cooperation with some other reality as an expression of life or a function of consciousness, then this creative faculty constitutes only further incontestable proof of the existence of a "living" and "thinking" "Something" governing the aforesaid detail. This proof is expressed in "Livets Bog" by the term "X2", while the "thinking" "Something" is termed "X1".
Of these three "X's", or principles, "X3" is directly perceptible through sensing. Wherever this "X" is an independent result according to the senses it becomes identical with what is known as a "living being". But by no means all such occurrences of resultant entities are grasped by ordinary physical senses. Such sensing is actually highly localized so as to include only those areas with which the source of the sensing is associated. If this source is a human person he can, of course, recognize other humans as "living beings", and it is more or less the same regarding the recognition of animals. But to recognize that plants are also "living beings" is distinctly more difficult and even after proper instruction such a perception can at most amount to belief or dogma. But it will still be quite hopeless to find in such people a recognition that minerals are an expression of life. These people have no realistic source for any creative processes that are not manifested by people or animals. If they are religious they recognize "God" as the source of those manifestations which fit pleasantly and favourably into their daily life and the "Devil" as the source of those which feel unpleasant and work in opposition to the fulfilment of their wishes and supposed ideals.
If they are not religious, they will deny any form of life as being the source of manifestations which are not caused by people or animals. This actually means that they will deny as having had a creator those manifestations which all together make up what we call "Nature", as for instance the ability of substances to react, crystallization, the structures and features of plants and animals, the orbits and effects of suns and planets, in short, anything in existence occurring where the source is outside their sensory capacity. This means that these people actually believe all these come about of themselves in spite of the fact that they appear in logical cycles and demonstrate planned creation. With an attitude of this kind such people are being more naïve than the simple-minded or the "poor in spirit" who believe in a God who is the source of all manifestations, for in the deeper levels of this belief there does lie an unshakeable truth. Something cannot come from nothing. Any planned creation must be the result of previous logical thinking and it must be the height of error to believe that thinking is anything other than a special attribute of a "living being" and this regardless of where one might find it, whether it is in the world plan itself or in the expressions of Nature in microcosmos or macrocosmos. Nature's logical manifestations can no more come into being without a brain than those brought about by human beings. That it is not so easy to see the source of Nature's creations as it is to see the sources of human creation is no legitimate or logical reason for denying its existence.
