331. This "day-consciousness" then, presents itself in six variations each overlapping the other, namely one for each of the individual's six bodies of manifestation. Thus this individual has an "instinct-variation", a "gravity-variation", a "feeling-variation", an "intelligence-variation", an "intuition-variation" and a "memory-variation". But as mentioned, these variations overlap each other to form a cooperation on which the individual's whole awake or conscious manifestation is based. The individual's level of perfection, standard of love to others and degree of intellectuality depends upon the harmony within this cooperation. The source of every imperfection in an individual's manifestation or behaviour can always be traced back to a discrepancy in the cooperation of these variations. This discrepancy always proves due to the fact that one or more of these variations appears with a far too dominating overweight or underweight with regard to that combination which expresses absolute balance between all the variations and thus should signify the norm.
      A normal combination of these variations indicates a ratio in which one of the six is clearly dominating, one is latent, two are increasing and two are decreasing. If this ratio holds good there will be mental equilibrium in the "day-consciousness" which can be called normal. So a normal state of mind or mental equilibrium is not based upon an absolutely equal manifestation of all the six variations at one and the same time. If, for instance, the strength of these variations were expressed in grams then 200 grams of each variation could not possibly be a foundation for the creation of consciousness, due to the immeasurable differences in power and expression of the basic energies. It must be remembered here that the six basic energies express a scale of a rising strength of energy along which they appear in precisely that order in which we have already learned to know them. If, for example, we express these energies by means of a common yardstick for units of power, then the energy of instinct will show the lowest number of units. If for example it totalled 20 units per gram, then gravity-energy would express 40 units per gram and the energies of feeling, intelligence, intuition and memory would, measured by the same scale, total 60, 80, 120 and 100 units per gram respectively. If a consciousness could now be imagined composed of an equal number of grams of each of these energies, no form of instinct, gravity or feeling could exist in such a consciousness for, on account of the superior strength of the three remaining energies, the latter would completely dominate the situation.
      In a consciousness where 200 grams of intuition-energy existed, 200 grams of instinct-energy would not be noticed, for the latter energy would only represent a power of 4000 units compared with the 24,000 units of the former energy. However, the fact is that there is an entire zone of existence where instinct-energy dominates the living being's consciousness, so it becomes clear that here this energy dominates intuition-energy. This is only possible because instinct-energy is present in the said consciousness in such large amounts that its power-units far exceed the number represented by intuition-energy in this same consciousness.
