Livets Bog, vol. 2
The evolved living being and the "stage of ill-temper".
335. Gradually, as the individual is enriched by the experience of suffering, he becomes changed so that he is more and more able to use refined feeling as mental material. The explosive energy has been mastered. Peace and calm enter the consciousness. And the individual becomes more and more visible as a true "human being", far above the "stage of ill-temper". He forgives his enemies. He understands that their behaviour is natural and inevitable. He knows that gravity-energy surges through their flesh and blood and that they possess too little feeling-energy to be able to control it and therefore they cannot, indeed, be otherwise than they are. No one can fight a poison for which he has no antidote. Anyone who expects the opposite cannot be particularly mature, but represents in the very highest degree one of those people who "know not what they do". He remains an individual who does not have intellectual energies as the main material of consciousness.
