The kingdom of wisdom. The materialization and dematerialization of beings as an act of will.
363. Thus we have seen here that the true human kingdom gradually comes to differ greatly from the earthly one. The development of the former is directed towards becoming less and less physical, both with regard to bodily construction and to behaviour. But with this new condition a still higher state of being has already begun to be revealed. Just as the true human kingdom begins to overshadow the animal, or earthly human stage, so a still higher kingdom begins to overshadow the condition of the true human being during the second half of its spiral zone. As shown on the symbol, "intelligence-energy" culminates in this kingdom and so I have called it the "kingdom of wisdom". And here we have come to a zone where the physical world begins to fade away out of sight. In this, the fourth kingdom of the spiral all material constitutes dazzling intellectuality. The most coarse and most highly condensed forms of matter in this area are "physical thoughts". We are now in a world where even obtaining nourishment from the air has ceased and the beings' source of nutrition is exclusively pure thought supplied from an atmosphere of immeasurable love; this is the inevitable consequence of totally fulfilling the laws of life, which must be all-prevailing in this zone where intellectuality culminates and has its natural home.
In this sphere the manifesting bodies of beings are held together only by a certain concentration of thought. They form and "materialize" exclusively for particular situations in which they are serving the Source of their being and they are released, or "dematerialize" as soon as that situation has passed.
Consequently the being is here so free from dependence on matter – that is to say, so superior to it – that the above mentioned "visibility" or "invisibility" is not merely a main factor in the existence of the individual but it is also a simple act of will. It is no longer a troublesome and difficult process to "show" himself to his friends as in the physical world where he sometimes has to bring his physical body, which is a heavy, dense mass of matter, over land and sea, thousands of miles to the place where he should appear in person. Here, in the home of intellectuality, distance as such does not really exist and consequently there is no such thing as "travelling". The individual's body of manifestation only becomes materialized or made visible at a given moment on the basis of his desire or wish, so that he can carry out an exchange of thought with those he would like to communicate with.
When a terrestrial human being wishes to appear before someone in person, first and foremost he has to be in the same place as that person and therefore he has to take his own body to that place. This does not apply to a "being of wisdom". As already mentioned, in the world of such a being distance does not exist, and the beings are thus, in a manner of speaking, all in the "same space". Therefore they have no need to "travel" in order to "make an appearance" in person for anyone else. On the contrary, all they need is to "get on the same wavelength" which in this case means a certain congenial mental contact. This is brought about by thought-concentration, or a particular act of will, by which the beings become visible to each other, that is, they can hear, see and feel each other quite regardless of distance. Thus, the ability of such beings to make themselves visible to each other is actually not based, as in the physical world, on a change of distance, but conversely, on a change of state.
