When the living being has become satiated with its existence in the light, it exercises its will more and more in the direction of "egoism", but it will be aeons of time before this exercise of will has unpleasant effects.
392. After the individual's satiation with the experience of light in the "divine world" his area of interest will diverge more and more away from the fixed "now" and will aspire with increasing strength towards previously experienced times, to which, of course, he has access through his now all-dominating faculty of memory.
His day-consciousness becomes more and more alive in these experiences, and as already mentioned, he now inhabits the spiral's last kingdom – the "kingdom of bliss".
But with the interest in previously experienced times, a change begins in the individual's mental functioning which is of enormous importance.
This change is in reality nothing more nor less than the individual's first tendency in the direction of exercising his will, which later on in the approaching new spiral will eventually culminate as the foundation for the killing principle; this exercise of will, under the concept of "egoism", is especially well-known here in the zones of the Earth.
But in the "divine world" this tendency does not, of course, give so much power to the exercise of will that there is any possibility for it to result in the direction of disharmony or suffering.
On the contrary, there has still to pass aeons of time before anything of this kind will come to the living being now culminating in the highest forms of life.
During these particular aeons of time, the egoistic or selfish tendencies will not in any way at all affect the individual's fellow beings.
They reveals themselves, as already mentioned, only in the fact that the being, previously so unselfish, now gradually becomes "tired" and, so to speak, is longing for a rest from "serving his neighbour" so long.
This "tiredness" brings the individual more and more to a kind of "standstill" with a lack of interest in the "outside" world, all of which greatly stimulates the functioning of memory.
And it is just on account of this "tiredness" and "satiation" with the surfeit of a divinely pleasurable life, that the individual can find refreshment and invigoration in the details of his "inner" world.
There he can actually search backwards into quite different times and circumstances.
And the greater the contrast represented between those times and circumstances and those of his present "outside" circumstances, the more bliss, or pleasurable feelings, the individual will derive from recalling his memories of them.
