But in order to find contrasts to his heavenly existence, the individual has to seek back to his memories of the spiral's lowest zones where existence culminated in solid matter, that is to say, culminated in being materially "bound". These forms of existence, where the individual's freedom of movement and his ability to develop has been stagnated and hindered by the weight of condensed matter, is indeed an extreme contrast to the divine being's completely liberated conditions in life's highest and most freely moving matter. Hence, an experience of that "inner" world gradually becomes a supremely dominating factor in the life of this light-satiated individual, with the result that his ability to experience the "outside" world correspondingly and unavoidably degenerates and eventually becomes wholly latent. But at this point the individual's day-conscious functions have ceased in the "outside" world in favour of experience in the "inner" world.
