Livets Bog, vol. 2
"Men" and "women", that is "male" and "female" individuals, degenerate and geniuses come into being.
403. But the "being in bliss" who has lived through the whole spiral, sees further into his own golden world. In the ethereal radiance of his "gold-copies" he observes, through his own memory-experience, the advancing course of his sexual life. He sees the dissolution of the animal kingdom in his own consciousness as well as that of his fellow beings who are spiritually at the same level. He sees how this contemporary group of fellow beings gradually becomes so large and – in spite of capital punishment, imprisonment, disgrace and hate – oversteps the bounds of animal law so extensively that the "herd' (the majority) has to begin to turn its laws around and begin to mitigate them in the interests of the coming new kingdom. But now the "being in bliss" re-experiences further within his "inner world" how the "herd", that is members of the community, are slipping slowly during that growth into a zone where they are lamenting their unhappy conditions of matrimonial love. Unfaithfulness is rife and the number of marriages and divorces among individual people shows how they have already been struck to a high degree by the beams radiating from the new kingdom and in actual fact have already become matrimonially "abnormal" in that they have long since abandoned the animal "faithfulness" in mating which is a condition of a perfect and happy marriage. The "being in bliss" also sees how "abnormality" becomes more and more prevalent. Interest for the many creative processes in art and science enter into competition with interest in marriage. They undermine the specific "male" and "female" beings of the animal kingdom, but they create the "genius". For no genius and absolutely no perfect work of genius can arise from a being whose opposite pole is totally latent. Later cosmic analyses in "Livets Bog" will show how the sexually traditional being cannot possibly exist in any other way than with a wholly absorbing interest in, and faithfulness towards, the "spouse". This "spouse" is the being's one and only heaven. Over and above this it can employ its abilities and strengths in one direction only, namely in the interests of jealousy. This is the perfectly natural "being of contest". If there are interests apart from those just mentioned, then the being is no longer a pure "animal". So, seen from the standpoint of the animal kingdom, it is already an "abnormal" being.
