417. In this case "doomsday" is actually implying a period of time when "sentence is pronounced" on mankind's actions and behaviour. This "passing of judgement" is given in the form of all the suffering to which the false concept of the world-picture and laws of life as well as the incorrect manifestations and modes of behaviour, have led. "Pain is the great teacher". And through sufferings endured during many lifetimes, people become wiser and wiser and eventually come to realize the disharmony of their own behaviour with those laws which form the basis of peace and harmony and thus of happiness in the fate of every being. And with this realization they can qualify to accept the impending "sentence' of "doomsday". But this "sentence" is not a sentence of death. On the contrary, it constitutes another kind of "sentence", one which will bring love and consequently life and gladness burgeoning forth with extraordinary strength. In truth, this "sentence" is the same as that which has been heralded and promised to mankind under the concept of the "Holy Spirit". And the "Holy Spirit" is again the same as the highest wisdom, that is to say the Godhead's own total perception of existence and life itself. There does not exist, therefore, a higher science than this. It is "doomsday" which bestows this wisdom on mankind. The ingress of this wisdom into people's hearts and minds, and the resulting high intellectuality, is the promised "new heaven". And the display of supremely practical love through such high intellectuality when transformed into habitual consciousness or automatic functioning as shown in people's behaviour, is the promised "new Earth".
