Livets Bog, vol. 2
With the help of its animal tendencies the I creates an intellectual centre on the physical plane. When both the sexual and intellectual centres are transferred to the "feeling body", the "true human being" emerges.
433. So when the individual "cools down" it becomes more and more able to make use of the spiral's intellectual energies. This is only possible through the creation of an animal organism. Without such an organism it would not be possible for the I to guide intellectuality into the physical plane of existence. During the physical existence of flame and fire it has only just the beginning of an automatic function on this plane. However, with an animal organism it acquires day-consciousness on the physical plane. Gradually the animal organism comes to contain quite an extensive centre for the individual's intellectual abilities and strengths. Thereby it is able not only to expand "sexually" but also intellectually.
While at the solar or fire stage, as well as during the following mineral or "cooling down" period, the individual has only a "sexual centre" through which its whole physical manifestation takes place as a form of automatic functioning – of which it must therefore be unaware. Then in the animal stage there is in addition an intellectual centre through which – apart from its automatic functioning – the individual also becomes conscious of physical existence itself and its own very life and manifestation.
Thus, from his animal existence he expands his intellectual centre further and further, which makes him less and less dependent on animalism so that he gradually transfers both sexual and intellectual centres to the "body of feeling", that is to say that part of the corporate organism through which the individual can control "feeling-energy". With the transference of day-consciousness to this body there arises that state of being I refer to here in "Livets Bog" as the "true human being". As we have already come to understand, this form of existence, through development, moves away from animal conditions towards the spiral's highest, most beautiful and most unrestricted intellectual forms of life within God's own zone, and from there onwards again to new divine spirals or cycles in the eternal embrace of the Godhead.
