The cosmic panorama on terrestrial man's physical horizon. The presence of eternity in the "now".
486. But if each of these phenomena defined by us as "substance" or "matter", is a life-zone and an element for living beings, it means that, with our physical senses alone, we can survey an immense number and variety of life-zones or planes of existence. The substances water, milk, wine, bread, meat, blood, wood, iron, steel, bronze, coal, diamonds and other precious stones – in short, anything which we know under the description of substance or matter – thus contains, in itself, a life-space in which living beings manifest. Indeed, do we not see outside in Nature on a summer day all different kinds of "matter"? Just in the meadow's floral display alone there are contained myriads of diversified spaces in which living beings manifest. Every little flower, indeed, every tiny specially coloured area within that flower constitutes a living-space, a world all to itself, a dwelling place for living beings given by the Godhead.
And does this not apply to human dwellings as well? Is not all the paint on doors and windows, on walls and furniture, on roofs and foundations, on fences and stairways, together with every bit of plaster, every kind of stone, likewise a dwelling for living beings?
Think about the waving cornfields, the green pastures, the winding pathways and bright country lanes, the Earth's dark soil, the blue clay and the yellow sand. Do not these phenomena all consist of different kinds of matter? Imagine what oceans of various worlds of living-spaces they contain for living beings!
But it is not only outside in Nature that the mystery of the Universe reveals itself to the cosmic investigator. Even as he steps out of his room his own mass of substance is crossing over myriads of life-spaces or elements for living beings. From his carpet, his writing-desk, his paintings with their frames, his sofa and armchairs, his bookcase and bric-a-brac, the light and dark areas in his photographs, his door hangings and curtains, indeed from his own clothing and their different colours and materials, every single kind of substance is casting its shining beams into his blue or brown eyes – the substance of which is also life-space for living beings – all communicating to him the recognition of myriads of new worlds or planes of existence.
Have you, dear reader, ever before thought that, wherever we tread, we are stepping over divine dwellings, the abodes of living fellow beings in life? If not, then pause for a moment. For here heaven has opened itself and your view is immense. You are just looking straight into eternity. You see a huge horizon stretching out. Its boundaries are not to be found either in time or space. Before your gaze lies a heavenly panorama with myriads of planes of existence, arranged in a perfection of perspective. There, in the midst of "now", there lie extensive zones of previous spirals you have passed through long since and which consequently fade away into the far cosmic horizon behind the micro-worlds' white mists. And there also lie immeasurably gigantic zones in huge spirals ahead through which you will steer your divine course. Millions of incarnations behind, and millions of future existences ahead, are there for your present viewing. In the light of perspective they appear with greater or lesser clarity, with greater or lesser sharpness, more or less belonging to the macro- or micro-worlds in so far as they are near or far from your own divine position, i.e. your observation point in the cosmic horizon.
See how all that beautiful and eternal panorama – surpassing all imagined worlds – now becomes visible through your small physical horizon, and furthermore, has been present all along in your sitting-room, your yard, your fields, meadows and woods and anything else you generally call yours. Even if you were a tramp, your threadbare garments would contain cosmic worlds with access to life-experiences for myriads of beings. So immensely far-reaching and penetrating is divine creation, the eternal Father's manifestation for his son, that not a hair, not a nail, indeed, not even a speck of dust, can exist without being a part of the whole world with universes, solar and starry communities, and even to an extensive degree with beautiful bright animal-like worlds as well as with dark and barren moon worlds. Everything "large" is present in the "small", just as everything "small" is present in the "large". And to the observer, one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day, while at the same time all distances are within the embrace of divinity. And so the words of the Nazarene become living truth when he declares that "in my Father's house are many mansions".
