492. This cruelty is thus in reality a culmination of the result of misconceptions about the "divine correspondence". As this result is cruelty it will invariably breed antipathy for what caused it. This means that one will gain a perfect experience of the fact that brutality and cruelty, revenge and hate are not the way to happiness but to renewed brutality and cruelty, to new hate and ways of revenge. That which is cultivated is being kept alive. The senses and types of thought develop with being used or with being employed. It makes no difference whether they are thoughts of revenge or thoughts of love. Only the effect of the senses or thought forms one employs will determine if they remain lasting in one's consciousness. Only when one discovers which road leads to true peace and good fortune and which to real strife and suffering, will one gradually follow the way towards happiness.
