509. In order to become acquainted with terrestrial man's thought-climates we have to reach down into such a person's consciousness or mentality. We shall then realize that it constitutes a whole world of its own which actually, both in its nature and movements, does not differ particularly from the outside world from which we come. Figuratively speaking, we observe terrific storms, cyclones, earthquakes and solar eclipses. We experience drought, downpours of rain, oases, deserts, famine, abundance and wastefulness. We experience war, mutilation, suffering and persecution. And we experience sunshine and summer weather, peace, idyllic conditions, and so on. We come to realize that the ordinary terrestrial person is a reflection of the outer world or zone in which he lives. He has all its wild energy, its wars and animal nature as well as incipient human tendencies in his blood and in his veins. He begins to acquire logic and wisdom in his heart, in his thoughts and in his actions. One day, the finished human being – beautiful, radiant and shining with divine brilliance – will be standing upon the ashes of his burnt-out animal being.
