543. As we saw, nothing at all that is accessible to the physical senses, or that is perceived as realistic by people in general, is real in an absolute sense. Size, colour, movement – the appearance of everything that can be directly reached by the senses – is illusory, as on closer analysis it is completely resolved into the one notion – i.e. "something that is". This analysis is the only one which remains unchangeable. It is the only one which is not dependent on a view or observation point. This analysis will stand everywhere as an eternal, fundamental and incontestable fact. It is the unshakeable foundation or basic analysis of the Universe. We saw that all other existing analyses were simply terms to describe the mutual relationship between viewpoints. We saw that details of a distant horizon were microscopic in relation to those in the foreground, and that the appearance of anything accessible to sensory perception only depended on from where they were seen. We saw that all forms of perceivable things had a position from where they seemed to be real or absolute, but that at the same time they also had some other position from where they became totally unreal. Behind these two views all that remained simply substantiated the existence of "something that is". This "something" could in no way be detached from life or existence. It was first revealed as "the experiencing and creating something that is". When we disclosed "that which is created", this also proved, in its final analysis, to be "something that is". And the same applied to the existing "creative faculty". It, too, ultimately proved to be a "something that is". We have thus three times in our research arrived at this same final analysis of "something that is". However, here we must remember that we have not met three different "somethings", but on the contrary, our experience has been that, in reality, we have met only one and the same "something" through three different analyses.
The fact that there are not three realistic "somethings which are" is confirmed by the last two of the three analyses mentioned, in that they each result in precisely the same analysis, namely "something that is". Had they not done so, and the "creative faculty" and the "created" had therefore been absolutely realistic from a cosmic viewpoint, then there would have been three different "somethings". But in that case, there would not have existed any form of life whatsoever. This comes about precisely on the score of the illusory character of the last two "somethings" (the "creative faculty" and the "created") in relation to the first "something" or "something No. 1". They constitute only "something No. 1" seen through "coloured spectacles". "Something No. 1" is thus the realistic, clear and uncoloured reality behind the coloured or tinted "spectacles" of the faculties for sensing, creating and experiencing. This one "something" existing behind all illusions is the absolute reality. Everything else in existence is only a "view" of this "something".
