548. No wonder, then, that the "cosmic clear-sighted" observer does not form judgements from visible, temporary phenomena. When one looks behind the world of illusions and sees the absolute reality behind forms, one is not affected by illusions. Of what importance is it whether a man is in rags and tatters or in purple and gold, whether he be emperor or tramp? These phenomena are equally temporal, equally illusory. Of what importance is it if a person criticizes or speaks ill of someone, for he is manifesting only an illusion, a mirage, just as the one affected by his criticism and slander could never in any way whatsoever be other than he is. Criticisms and calumnies are quite lost upon "the Absolute" or "the Eternal", revealing its "holiness" and inviability. That other people fly into a fit of rage or hatred towards a person who maligns and persecutes someone is also understood when aware in one's higher consciousness, for in such a case, the one maligned does not realize the delusion. For him, the world of illusions is the only reality. It is the same superstition that brings about all the wars and unrest in the world. But naturally, this superstition must necessarily be perceived as reality as long as one knows nothing at all of the absolute truth. However, it is a divine fact that mistakes lead on to the revelation of the truth, and that, in this way, everyone will arrive at absolute knowledge. And life can therefore only be expressed as the one great factor: "Everything is very good".
From this, one can see clearly how love must inevitably be the fundamental thought-climate of living beings possessing the highest knowledge. And we can see too how the traditional great factors are to an exceptional degree in contact with absolute truth, and that their source is expressing a culminating intellectuality or wisdom in the declarations: "Fear not those who kill the body, for they cannot kill the soul" (that which is absolute or eternal in the living being); "One day for the Lord (the living being) is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day" (Infinity is contained within every limitation).
Similarly, it is an expression of the clearest vision into the world of illusion, and the highest direction of will based on the same cosmic insight, when the World Redeemer utters these words on the Cross: "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do". Here it is clearly seen that the absolute realization of how "crucifiers" are imprisoned in the belief that the world of illusions is reality and therefore they can act only accordingly, must eliminate all antipathy, all irritation, ill-will and anger towards these life-tormentors, and that love becomes the all-dominating way of being for the "clear-sighted", i.e. for the being who is one with the Godhead, and that only this attitude towards life and existence can form the foundation for the experience of true, absolute and thereby everlasting peace.
