The basic solution to the mystery of life No. 10 - The immortality of the living being.
568. But as the living being thus constitutes a unity, consisting of a "creator", a "creative faculty" and "something which is created", then it must then consist of "something which is eternal" and "something which is temporal". The creator must necessarily be eternal, for if there had ever been a time when there was no creator, that creator must have come about from "nothing". But this is, of course, the opposite of what is shown by the actual facts of life. "Something" cannot come from "nothing". And if one maintains that "matter" or "substance" existed before the "creator", then one would be suggesting that "matter" produces the "creator" which, based on the existing facts, proves to be the product of an abnormal use of the thinking faculty. As we said, every normal person knows that it is not the house that creates the builder, but the builder that creates the house.
The fact that the "creative faculty" is equally as eternal as the "creator", fully agrees with that which life proves to be factual. For if there had ever been a time when no "creative faculty" existed, there would never have been any possibility of creating, and it would have been eternally prevented from coming into existence. Now, however, its existence is a fact. Therefore it can only be expressed as an "eternal" reality.
As the "creator" and the "creative faculty" are inseparable, as shown above, and moreover are the only factors that can be the "living being's "supreme command" or "super-consciousness", then the investigator's "eternal existence" thus emerges as an incontestable analysis. The fact that the "living being's" organism or body comes into being, culminates and comes to an end in no way disproves the above analysis – on the contrary it constitutes to the very highest degree an irrefutable confirmation of its reality, for this organism's emergence, blooming and decay is precisely a product of the "creative faculty" and at all times proves the passing degree of mastership over "matter" or "substance" possessed by the "creator" or "living being" in question. This, the "living being's" "eternal existence" or "immortality" is the basic solution No. 10 to the mystery of life.
