That the living being is manifested in "God's image after His likeness" renders the ninth basic element of life's mystery to be just as indispensable an advantage for the existence of life as any of the eight basic elements already cited. If everything that existed outside a living being's own manifestation – whether "living beings", "substance" or "matter" – were not all together "God's image", that is to say were not a living, working and life-promoting organism or tool for manifestation for the "living being", in the same way as our own organism is a tool for our own "I", then all the logic, all the creation and expediency, or indeed anything and everything expressing life in combinations of substances or matter, would all be the result of a "dead" thing. As it is a fact that logic and expediency can exist only as "manifestations of life" and furthermore that a "dead" thing cannot be the source of "manifestation of life", then we can only remain in contact with reality by recognizing that everything outside our own manifestation exists, constituting likewise a living organism analogous with our own organism, in which there must also be a highest eternal "something" or "I" possessing a creative power on the basis of which the products or manifestations in the form of the Universe with its myriads of stars and globes and with its oceans, continents, living beings, substances and matter are all brought into existence. If this organism were not an organism but on the contrary constituted merely chaos or aimlessness, then how could it ever be such a glorious "Heaven and Earth" for us? That this organism constitutes a being of gigantic proportions compared with our own organism and manifestation, does not alter the fact, but indeed makes it completely analogous with the circumstance that we ourselves, because of our own organism and manifestation, constitute a similarly dominant macrocosmic existence with regard to the micro-individuals contained in our own organism and without which their existence would be an impossibility. Do not these tiny micro-individuals in our own flesh and blood, in our organs and limbs, find themselves in the same situation as we do ourselves?
      If these small beings at some point were to deny that all matter or creation outside their own zone's sphere of living beings, had a living source, they would be denying the existence of beings in the zone to which we ourselves belong and in whose organisms it is a vital necessity for them "to live and move and have their being".
      These small beings' understanding would be at variance with reality in just the same way as would our own understanding be at variance with reality if we perceived everything outside our own zone of living beings as "dead" or without an "I". Just as our "I", our consciousness and organism is a necessity in order to form a "universe" or a "heaven and earth" for our micro-individuals and is consequently a life-necessity for them, so too, is it an absolute life-necessity for us that the "heaven and earth" we observe around us, represents a living, pulsating organism revealing both "I" and "creative ability". But this is only what has long been a fact for advanced investigators. No one can dispute that everything we see or sense is "something created". As a "created thing" can only exist as a result of a "creative faculty", and this, again, can only exist as an attribute of an "I" or the highest "something", then the Universe outside our own zone's circle of living beings thus fulfils exactly the three conditions necessary to make a "something" into a "living being".
      The Universe outside our own mental and physical sphere thus constitutes a "living being" just as much as does that part of the Universe which exists within the domain of our organism and consciousness and which comprises our own individuality. And within that macro-being we are just as necessary as organs or material for organs as the micro-beings within our own body are necessary for us as organs or material for organs. It is that very living being whose organism appears to us as the Universe, that we call the Godhead. Our own manifestation as a living being is thus an exact replica of the Godhead – it is "in God's image". It is this replica of the Godhead that is here in "Livets Bog" defined as the "son of God".
      If this Godhead did not exist, the universe outside our own zone's sphere of living beings would be without an "I" and therefore insensible. It would appear as a contrast to life, it would be absolute "stillness". But absolute "stillness" in the Universe would make any form of manifestation of life an impossibility. For life exists entirely of reactions between the display of energies by the son of God and the energies of the Godhead or the Universe. These are the reactions which constitute that which we call "thought", "consciousness" and "manifestation". Without the "Godhead", the "son of God" or the "living being" would thus also be an impossibility. And life without this ninth basic element of life's mystery would be an eternal "nothing".
