But the manifestations exemplified here, and those similar, represent only the most primitive area of the I's creative talent, for in reality these are to be considered only as "lifeless" phenomena. This, of course, must not be taken literally, for nothing in life or existence can be absolutely "lifeless" or "dead", but should be taken to mean that the phenomena mentioned are only produced in matter consisting of micro-organisms which have not yet been taken into day-consciousness by their source, that is by their I's. This same matter, therefore, constitutes a unified mass regulated by the C knowledge or automatic functions of these I's. This mass is what we call "mineral matter". In this unified mass the efforts of the separate I's begin to result in individual forms which are known to us as "atoms", "electrons" and so on. These small rudimentary organisms' sources – whose day-consciousness dwells in the "kingdom of bliss" – are still not yet day-conscious individuals or independent beings on the physical plane. And as all "mineral matter" is thus an expression for the automatic functioning of those beings, but not for their day-conscious actions, then we have the reason why that type of matter is considered "lifeless".
