596. As "animal" matter thus constitutes a combination of "mineral" and "radiating" matter – that is, the energy which expresses "life", then it is not surprising that one has gradually begun to define it as "living" matter.
Because the I is able to bring its will into contact with the will of the tiny beings, a vital and mutual cooperation is brought about between the two parties which results in the creation of the former I's physical, or "animal" organism.
Whereas this organism constitutes an experiencing and creating instrument for its instigator, it also constitutes a "world", a "universe" a "living-space" or a vitally necessary dwelling for the tiny beings.
The two parties are thus quite indispensable to each other.
Without the tiny beings an I would not in any way be able to create for itself a physical body.
And if they were not "day-conscious" in their organisms, it would be impossible for any I to be "day-conscious" in its large organism made up of those same tiny beings.
That we are able to feel pain or well-being in some part of our physical organism is entirely due to a transference of thought or consciousness from our micro-beings to our own I's ability to comprehend.
Of course, this transference happens automatically, for just as with so many of the other organic functions, it has long since become "C knowledge".
When we feel pain somewhere in our organism, it will be due entirely to a certain irregularity or disturbance in the "daily life" of the micro-individuals within the body-part in question.
The distress on account of this irregularity is "day-consciously" experienced by the small beings in question as a more or less serious difficulty and creates a destructive reaction in their general condition, that is, in the life of their consciousness, the latter actually consisting of "radiating" matter.
But as that "radiating" matter is connected with our own "radiating" matter, then that reaction is thus transmitted to it.
And it is here that we notice this reaction – that is, this disturbance in the general condition of the tiny beings – as "physical pain".
Therefore every form of "physical pain" in its deepest analysis is not of a "physical" nature but constitutes "radiating" energy, thereby becoming recognizable as a "mental" or "spiritual" experience, i.e. as a transferred "thought".
But "transferred thought" is the same as a "message".
All physical pain and suffering is thus recognizable here as a living, conscious correspondence between the macro-I and its micro-I's.
It is an aggregate of concentrated "anxiety", "fear of death", "sorrow" and "depression" from the macro-I's micro-individuals which, more or less automatically, is directly aimed at the more or less known or unknown macro-individual who is actually the highest authority in their "world" or "universe".
And so it is evident here that the two realities we have come to know under the concepts of "prayer" and the "Godhead" (also known as "Providence"), are in fact logical phenomena which, as in the automatic behaviour described above, are fundamental for all "physical" manifestation.
For just as our micro-individuals' distress comes to the knowledge of our I as "physical pain" and in that way forms a regulating and warning factor in preserving the health of our organism – meaning in this case "lasting peace" for our micro-individuals – then our own distress, sorrow, melancholy, fear of death and militant atmosphere, also comes in a completely unified wave of energy to the knowledge of that I which constitutes the supreme, maintaining, regulating authority in that very organism in which we find ourselves as micro-beings.
