The "law of fate": all must serve all.
608. As the whole of life is based exclusively on "hunger" and "satiation", then the whole of life is movement in a "spiral". But as, for every single living being, such movement constitutes a progression from one satisfaction of his deepest wishes and ideals to another, it thus emerges as a fact for any advanced investigator that all living beings in the Universe or the whole world are absolutely "equal". That they appear one after the other in the "spirals" and consequently do not attain their physical and spiritual ideals simultaneously, only emphasizes even further the magnificent all-surpassing structure of the Universe. If beings were not placed successively one behind the other in the "cycle" everything would be absolutely colourless in the Universe and in existence. If everything were at the same stage it would actually make it conditional for everything to be identical, and at the same time the absolutely consistent condition would now be that everyone would have to serve everyone else which is also impossible – indeed, all manifestation would simply be quite out of the question. If living beings did not follow one another successively in the cycle of life, that is, in the spirals, then neither micro- nor macro-beings would exist. And without them how could there be any creation of organisms, any creation of Heaven and Earth, any creation of the planes of existence, or indeed, in other words, how could life itself really exist at all?
The eleventh basic element thus shows us that all functioning or creation is based upon the giving of life to other beings. We cannot drink a glass of water without signifying a creation of life and activity for other beings – indeed, we cannot even take our shoes off and on without that action being of importance to myriads of living beings' existence. Are shoes not for giving warmth to our feet? Are our feet not a part of a universe which demands care and warmth for its existence and thereby constitutes a suitable world for myriads of living beings within it? The same is the case for every word we utter; actually even a living being's slightest inaudible sigh creates activity in the maintenance of one or another form of existence for living beings. Thus we cannot move a limb, or see a ray of light or hear even the smallest sound without it being on the basis of existing fellow beings in micro- and macrocosmos as well as meso-cosmos. That is the true law of life. It is the law of fate.
