Why terrestrial man does not like his "dark" fate.
612. Terrestrial man still appears with a large part of his consciousness dormant in the primitiveness and ignorance of the animal kingdom and does not think day-consciously about suffering or so-called "dark fate", and this is only because he has no absolutely overall view of his own eternal cosmic existence and the corresponding endless living-space upon which it is based. He is actually conscious only of his small local physical living-space and its particular little details. But his hunger for mental light and mental well-being shows that to a large extent he has begun his great "cosmic inhalation" which gradually will fill the whole of his consciousness. This "inhalation" is evidenced through that which we call "evolution" which is, indeed, nothing other than the individual's "inhalation" of "cosmic air", that is to say – intellectuality, life and love.
