615. A being's will thus constitutes a characteristic which enables him to embellish and shape his eternal immortal existence or presence in the Universe. It is this shaping or embellishment which we usually define as "fate". As this shaping cannot possibly exist without being a product of the will, then every individual's "fate" – which in this case means the "embellishment", or the "shaping" of "cosmic breathing" – only exists as the product or result of his own release of will. In this way life consists solely of "sowing" and "reaping". The soil for this "seed" and this "harvest" consists, then, of a being's own eternal "cosmic breathing" or spiral-cycle. But if a being's own "cosmic breathing" or spiral-cycle is the only soil for his "sowing" and "reaping", then there is no possibility whatsoever for such a being to be able to "reap" anything other than his very own "cosmic seed". In this way he becomes synonymous with the master of his own fate. He constitutes the most profound initial cause and original source of the particularization, or shaping, of his own life and existence. He is the source of shaping and shading his own light and darkness. Therefore this being can exist only as identical with the product of his own exercise of will.
      "Cosmic breathing" guarantees in this way the living being's eternal existence, while through his own product of will he guarantees himself the embellishment, colour and the local details of his eternal existence in accordance with his wish, that is his "hunger" and his "satiation". When this is further confirmed through the law of movement (as we shall return to later in "Livets Bog" ), the law which determines that energy can be released only by an I to form a cycle and must therefore inevitably return to the same I and that this return constitutes the basis of all experienced events, indeed of all life-experience, then those eternal words – "whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap" are proved here, in life's highest analyses, to be an incontestable scientific truth.
