Now, through this eleventh chapter of "Livets Bog" we have nearly reached the end of the way towards a clear understanding of thought-climates, for in actual fact this reality constitutes the final result of "cosmic chemistry". In order to bring this reality more alive we have been through a very comprehensive amount of material and touched upon all the main problems with which terrestrial man has been especially connected concerning this all-pervading manifestation of thought-climates. Thus we have viewed this divine phenomenon in such depth and from such a height that it has become a fact for us that "thought-climates" are for the living being the very "breath of life". It is this "breath of life" that God "breathed" into Adam. In this way "thought-climates" constitute the "air" of eternal life. No manifestation, no creation, no love or sympathy and no light – in short no kind of life-experience whatsoever – can come about without being the result of the I's "juggling" with that all-pervading vital "air". We have seen that this I's deepest, quietest and most secret sigh as well as its most thunderous noisy blustering – indeed, all of its collective fate, its journeying through reincarnations, through lines in the spirals' eternal cycles, all its joys and sorrows of daily life, marriage and parenthood, wealth and poverty, illness, health and well-being, primitivity and genius – all of these things without exception are thought-climates, thereby constituting the atmosphere – the clouds, rain and sunshine, light and colour effects of the morning and evening glow in the immeasurable heavens of eternal life. Behind the whole of that atmosphere of creation's multiplicity, behind these living continents of manifested power, we found the all-controlling Lord of Life. We discovered a "something" which "spoke and it was done", which "commanded and it was there". We saw, indeed, that all creation, every manifestation, came about directly and solely at the bidding of a wish and that at this point we had arrived at the deepest analysis of "cosmic chemistry". In our own being we found this Lord of Life and saw that our own creation was this divine manifestation of a wish. We discovered that we ourselves are identical with the Godhead's expression "in Our image after Our likeness". His existence revealed itself as a living light within our own presence in the universe. The biblical account of the Godhead's miraculous creation, or manifestation of His wishes had become living reality in our own flesh and blood. We found that there existed absolutely no other bridge between ourselves and the reaction of substances than that of "primordial desire" – in reality, our own wishes. By means of these wishes we connect with matter or substance. And only through this, our own eternal wish for existence, do we produce the permanent reaction of matter which we call "creation". And this product is just the same as "cosmic chemistry" even as its instigator is the "cosmic chemist".
      But it was not only our own identity and creations we realized were respectively "cosmic chemists" and "cosmic chemistry". We also saw that all creation in Nature, in living beings, in microcosmos and macrocosmos as well as meso-cosmos were the very Godhead's manifestations of life, the Godhead's consciousness and speech brought about by the command of His wish. And through the twelve basic elements of life's mystery, we realized that this creation, in all its might was not just "very good" but that the ultimate result of the whole Universe was culminating love, and that this reaction of matter or manifestation of consciousness was therefore the culmination of life itself. That the acquisition of this divine way of life-experience basically takes place solely as the result of our wish for satisfying or satiating a previous hunger and that all life can only exist as a "satiation" of "hunger", simply makes the element of love even more unshakeable and radiant, while at the same time it comprises, in reality, the one existing basis for the whole of life's details or "colour". If everything did not come about by the bidding of hunger or desire, then any form of enjoyment of life would indeed be impossible. And if everything did not result in satiation, there would not be any incentive at all for making new creation or producing contrasts or opposites in the experience of life. And without contrast any form of sensing would be impossible. And without sensing there would not exist any form of life whatsoever. Thus, what we call love also has its contrast. It is that contrast which manifests itself as the "killing principle", so-called "evil" or mental "darkness". We have seen that this principle is also necessary in the cycle or spiral, for otherwise there would be no hunger for love, for light or for well-being which are, of course, the very contrast to that killing principle.
      That a satiation with love or divine light and well-being is just as realistic as its contrast, is shown to be a fact by all the people who live in darkness at the present time, that is, who are living in the domain of the "killing principle", for they would never have entered that domain if they had not previously had a "hunger" for it. But this "hunger" for darkness could not possibly have come about without a satiation with its contrast, or a satiation with the light.
      It is definitely confirmed by the "ladder of evolution" itself that all beings who are now living in darkness have had that kind of hunger. It shows clearly that beings from the "kingdom of bliss", through the sphere of minerals, through the "plant kingdom" and into the region of terrestrial man are searching downwards towards the culmination of the "killing principle". That this downward-going movement from the light to the darkness is an actual wish on the part of the beings in question, is made abundantly clear by the ideals and ethics of our forefathers. Did not the road to "Valhalla" – the "heaven" of these people – lead precisely through the manifestation of the "killing principle's" "moral precept of "hero worship'? Indeed, it was thought to be "sinful" to die naturally of old age. Such a death would not have found favour with the gods or obtain for "heroes" the due rewards which were at that time mostly considered to be young females – "valkyries" – as well as mead and roasted pig. It was thought that any person dying a natural death – i.e. someone in actual fact much more in contact with the laws of life – would have to enter the hereafter as a pariah, and be content with a "hell-home", an existence in a cellar-like area, cobweb-filled, gloomy and forbidding.
      It is a fact that such a moral precept as "hero-worship" has actually existed, for it is its surviving "C knowledge" or habitual mentality in present-day terrestrial man's flesh and blood which is the reason for all militarism. As long as the latter cannot be dispensed with in the community of terrestrial people they will find themselves still in the heathenish footsteps of their forefathers. There are forces which, for instance, in the form of "Christianity" or humanitarian teachings, can now begin to turn that community away from following the past, that gory path inherited from bygone days, and this just strengthens the fact that "satiation" with pagan tradition, and satiation with bloodthirsty morals is steadily on the increase and that hunger for its contrast is rising correspondingly. It is this "hunger" which is the reason for those humanitarian and loving energies in the form of "Christianity" beginning to take effect, although in reality they are still only "A knowledge" and "B knowledge" and therefore represent more of an awake day-conscious theory than actual conscious practice.
      In the course of our study of the mystery of life, we have thus come to recognize terrestrial man's position in the great spiral-cycle. We have seen that he is to be found passing the peak of his "satiation" with the experience of the "killing principle". All his desires and yearnings, aims and ideals are now moving in the direction of identifying with "hunger" for perfection, humanity and love. And in affirming this, the terrestrial person's position in the spiral-cycle, the latter has also found absolutely the highest and most perfect basis for organizing his "cosmic chemistry", his experience of life and the creation of his own fate. The structure of the world-panorama, its laws of love and culminating logic has become his greatest and most intellectual course of study. With this living tuition from the Godhead's own expressions of life, he has procured the best protection for his own fate's logical guidance towards the harmony of life, towards the very being of the Godhead and towards his own blessedness.
