Life is a rhythmic movement between the two extreme poles of "rest" and "activity". This rhythm is life's own eternal breathing or heartbeat
712. All life experience can therefore exist only as a process of hunger and satiation. Our daily existence has eternally been, and will for all eternity continue to be, an alternating experience of "rest" and "activity"."Satiation" constitutes the cessation of energy that takes place when wishes, longings or desires are fully satisfied, and can therefore justifiably be expressed as only "rest"."Hunger", on the other hand, exists as the tremendous driving force within oneself that the unattained strong desires and wishes give rise to and can therefore justifiably be expressed as only "activity"."Rest" and "activity" are therefore life's unshakable basic phases. No experience can exist without being either "rest", which in reality means a reduction in energy, or "activity", which means an increase in energy.Life is thus a rhythmic movement between these two extreme poles. This rhythm is life's very own eternal "breathing" or "heartbeat".
