728. Without immortality some beings would come into the world abandoned to the most hard-hearted cruelty, brutality and harshness. While others would come into the same world and experience the most refined pampering by their surroundings, culminating in honours and esteem. Others would arrive in the world mentally ill and physically disabled, while others would arrive in the world in bodies that express abundant or culminating beauty. If these beings had only their present life, and would therefore live only this once, how could all these phenomena be balanced out? That they will be balanced out is shown to be a fact through all the other laws of Nature. All movement is a release that is directed towards an equilibrium. Were it not for the fact that everything seeks equilibrium, there would be no movement and consequently no experience. And every being's existence would thereby be an impossibility.
