740. If rebirth did not exist and the beings existed only during their present, physical terrestrial life, the talent development analysed here could not possibly come about. And the fact that the beings nevertheless find themselves at greatly differing stages could not be a result of their own drive or manifestational force. The being that is more gifted than another being, indeed, is a genius, has in that case not contributed to or deserved this mental excellence through any kind of effort or manifestation of will on its own part. And the being that was born as an heir to an abundantly light and happy fate, regarding financial status, mentality, and bodily health and beauty, as well as the indulgence of the surroundings that such a position of fate entails, is also totally without justifiable entitlement to such a fate through any personal initiative. Similarly, beings are born that, from the cradle to the grave, are heir to a fate that is the release of nothing less than the most refined horrors of hell, such as an entire organism that is very defective or crippled, with sensory tools, organs and limbs that are more or less out of function or with a defective mentality that manifests itself in the form of mental deficiency, profound mental retardation or insanity, as well as many other forms of suffering, sorrow, poverty and misery, without these beings in any way whatsoever having themselves been able to take even the slightest amount of blame for their fate. And the true cause of this must be nothing other than an "inheritance" from their ancestors, which in turn means something produced out of "nothing" by some miraculous, mysterious decree of Providence. And life itself or our daily existence would then be the culmination of injustice, without anything that could express in any way even the tiniest hint of an excuse or justification for it. This would mean that existence or the beings' manifestation would be a revelation of the most perverse phenomenon that can possibly be imagined, indeed, a phenomenon that would be all the more terrifying since, unlike the perversity that we are familiar with, it could not be proved to be due to a temporary infirmity or the abnormal working of an organ, but would be Nature's absolutely normal creative function. Can there be anyone who can live with such a realisation or feel bliss at such a work of Nature?
