Why the authorised leading religions break up into small, intolerant sects or communities that more or less wage war on each other

But the terrestrial human being did not continue to sense to such an overwhelming extent with its feeling alone.It gradually developed a stronger and stronger desire to know.This desire, in conjunction with the beings' struggle for existence or their daily bread, developed their intelligence.And when this began to be turned towards problems concerning religion, religion began to be subjected to both greater and lesser mental earthquakes, which caused correspondingly greater or lesser splits in its faithful adherents' more or less faulty and ineffectual emotional attitude.Speculations and interpretations of the true Christian or universal answers sprang up as the only points of unification that offered any salvation for their originators and adherents.Doubt and free-thinking became the point of unification for other groups.And so, it came about that the answers themselves became increasingly points of separation rather than points of unification, which in turn resulted increasingly in disintegration rather than stabilisation in the religion itself.And because of this we today find Christianity and other great leading religions, in the form of hundreds of small religious communities and sects, each with its mutually more or less intolerant attitude, seeking to undermine and wage war on each other, exactly as is the custom in the case of the purely material states and nations.
