746. As we have seen, a great deal of effort has gone into enabling the creation of an intellectual bridge between the great answers and the beings' purely rational understanding, but with no lasting result. The beings' attitude towards belief is now more than ever in steep decline. And their particular hunger in the field of religion is not for words or new formulas requiring belief, but for pure, straightforward logic or concrete knowledge. It is therefore not only acceptable probabilities but scientific answers that the beings are seeking in order to satisfy their intellectual hunger. The beings' religious hunger can therefore no longer be satisfied without their intelligence. Today the beings' mental nourishment can consist of only down-to-earth analyses of that reality that can cause the great answers to be such self-evident factors that they take living root in the beings' own sensory area, so that these beings can, with the help of their own intelligence, see their incontestable connection with the phenomena in their own practical everyday lives. But in order for this to happen, the factor that is exclusively the missing link between the other great cosmic answers and practical life has to be brought back into the universe's series of cosmic analyses. This factor is the beings' immortality and consequent reincarnation or physical rebirth. And, as we know, "Livets Bog" also contains this answer and its rational analysis in the form of the descriptions of the I and its superconsciousness.
