761. But as the Godhead is therefore not a phenomenon that is to be found only in an intimate secret closet, but also appears as a down-to-earth living reality in flesh and blood, and the fact that our act of addressing him cannot therefore take place only in the secret closet but also has to go through our way of behaving towards our neighbour, we have hereby been given a supplement to the solution to the mystery of life, which renders this solution even more divinely radiant and warming.
It can be only divine that we are not only eternal beings, constituting the absolute originator of our own fate, but that we are also eternally bound to the originator of the universe or have an eternal father behind our eternal existence, whom we can address entirely personally and from whom we can receive a living answer.
We cannot therefore in the absolute sense live separated from this father or Godhead.
But as no living being can live separated from the Godhead, cannot sense, cannot experience without being the object of the Godhead's direct consideration, and cannot manifest itself in any way whatsoever, or release even the tiniest, microscopic sigh, without this being identical to a direct reflection back of this consideration, no living being can therefore exist without this existence consisting of a living, actual conversation between the Godhead and a son of God.
That this son of God lives through stages or periods in which he is not conscious of this communication, does not alter the principle; on the contrary it reveals it as the unshakable, heavenly or cosmic model of terrestrial parenthood.
Here we also see that the child lives through a stage in which it is not conscious of its parents' special care and protection.
But this does not cancel out the relationship between the parents and the child.
And in the same way, neither does the son of God's relationship to the eternal Providence stand or fall with his particular knowledge in this field.
