Since the invisible I or highest "something" in the being uses its superconsciousness and will to proclaim or make visible its existence, this proclamation or visibility will therefore be created by – not a "nothing" – but a "something". We have already in "Livets Bog" shown the highest analysis of this "something" and pointed out that this, as well as "X2", is ultimately identical to or constitutes "something no. 1". We shall therefore not concern ourselves here with this aspect of the analysis of the material of creation but, on the contrary, shall show the aspect of its nature where it beams towards us as an already existing richly coloured phenomenon, or as it reveals itself to us in the highest part of the world of forms or matter.
      As we have already mentioned, no form of creation can be manifested without it being identical to a transformation of something already previously in existence. This in turn means that the material for any form of creation already exists as a product of will and consciousness and is entirely or partly something through which one or more I's have previously expressed or proclaimed their existence. All material for creation is therefore already in existence as something that has been worked on by will and consciousness. When it is to be used as material for the creation of new forms of visibility, it has to be transformed. With this transformation its nature as the expression of a certain declaration of the existence of the I or I's, from which its present form was created, will be broken down. The basic analysis of every creation therefore consists of breaking down and building up. Nothing can therefore be created or come into being – regardless of whether it be a material thing or a non-physical thing, that is to say, thought – other than through a breaking down and a building up. But since creation can exist absolutely only on the basis of a combination of breaking down and building up, it will therefore become clear that the main analysis of the I's creative faculty will be an ability to break down and build up. But it will thereby also become clear that the experience of life is an experience of breaking down and building up. It is this breaking down and building up that gives rise to the old proverb: "One man's loss is another man's gain". Nothing new can grow except out of the ruins of something else. The present has to rest on the ruins of the past, while the future will rest on the ruins of the present. It thereby becomes a fact that one can manifest oneself or build up a declaration of one's existence only by means of something that one has previously broken down or dissolved. This combined breaking down and building up is "cosmic chemistry". The material of this "chemistry" can be only that which is the object of this process of breaking down and building up.
