Life substance no. 3 – satiation
775. But since the "primordial desire", now in the form of "hunger", has been taken down into matter or substances and has here become a wave of energy that can move only in the direction of obliterating the "hunger", this "hunger" will eventually cease. And a new situation thereby emerges, namely the contrast to hunger, or what we call "satiation". With the onset of "satiation" the wave of energy that was set in motion has run its course and the hunger in question no longer exists. The wave of energy has come into balance, and a "standstill" has come about where there was previously "movement". The most profound analysis of "hunger" and "movement" is therefore that they are identical, just as "satiation" and "standstill" also fundamentally constitute one and the same thing. As we have seen, "satiation" does not merely constitute the satisfaction of purely material, nutritional hunger, but in principle really constitutes the satisfaction of all other kinds of desire and the resultant balance that is in turn known in daily life as quietness, peace and rest. Just as "hunger" is a declaration of life, so is "satiation" also a prominent detail in the material that makes up life. And we will therefore register it as "life substance no. 3".
