But since we have seen that an "attraction" (hunger) and a "repulsion" (defecation) takes place, it thereby becomes a fact to us that there is "something" that is "attracted" and "something" that is "repelled".
But as this "attraction" and "repulsion" creates a "satiation", this "satiation" is the same as "something" that is left behind.
So, what is this "something" that is "attracted" and this "something" that is "repelled" and this "something" that is left behind?
Well, it can in itself constitute only the very first analysis of the concept of "material" or "matter".
As our present analysis commenced with the "primordial desire" and this "primordial desire" in turn constituted "attraction" and "repulsion", these two phenomena could not by their very nature be expressed as "material" but, on the contrary, as "movement".
And we therefore expressed these two "kinds of movement" as "hunger" and "defecation" respectively.
But "movement" is not something in itself.
Unless there is "something" that can be "moved", the "movement" does not exist.
A third factor is needed, namely, the "something" that can be "moved".
But since "something" that can be "moved" cannot in any situation whatsoever be anything other than "material" or "matter", as long as it is subject to "movement" – otherwise it would be, as we shall see later, the same as "power" – we must express everything that comes under the concept of "material" or "matter" as "life substance no. 5".
