909. And for that matter when does this dark state, that is to say human beings' suffering and misery, begin? Has there not, before this state, been such an enormous period of perfect creation that the period in which the human being has taken part in the process cannot even be reckoned as being something that is here today and gone tomorrow? What is a few million years of human existence beside the thousands of million years of Nature's creative activity? How long has the terrestrial human being's ability to think existed compared with the Earth's transformation from a state of fire to its present habitable condition? Has it not already been scientifically established that the human being's existence in the Earth's arena has only been for a microscopic period of time compared with the ocean of time represented by the Earth since the first elementary terrestrial human organisms began to appear on its surface? In any case, it is a fact that human history on the present Earth is absolutely the latest phenomenon in the Earth's great transformation process. If we consider the other phenomena in this process, for example the Earth's present stage, its structure, climate and surface, we can see that these phenomena are far more perfect or display far more radiant harmony than that manifested within the domain of terrestrial human beings. Whereas the Earth itself is so fully developed or fully created that it is now equipped with a profusion of possibilities that enable it to fulfil all the conditions that it needs in order to transform its sphere or domain into a dwelling place of joy and happiness, in fact into a "kingdom of heaven" for all terrestrial human beings, the domain of terrestrial human beings is on the other hand so unfinished that it still does not in any way fit into the state of this Earth. We are therefore faced with two specific domains: that of the Earth and that of mankind. The former exhibits harmony, the latter discord. Why does the one constitute harmony and the other discord? Could it not be that one has been brought to a stage of completion and has fulfilled its intended plan, whereas the other is not yet completed and is therefore still in the melting pot? What other reason could there possibly be? Could it not be that the latter domain, in other words that of terrestrial human beings, will be made to fit in harmoniously with the former, in other words that of the Earth? Is not the creative process proceeding in precisely that direction? Is not the longing for the harmonious blending or joining together of these two domains the deepest aim and innermost longing in every terrestrial human being's thinking? Is it not this harmonious blending of the individuals' domain and the Earth's domain that the prophets, the sages or the greatest representatives of mankind inspire their listeners to serve by stimulating them to develop themselves in neighbourly love, which in reality is the same as what in more modern language we would call "humaneness"? Is not this humaneness what every present-day political party, religious community, sect or association proclaims as the goal of all its efforts? In fact, is it not also so with all warring nations? Which nation today would dare or want to admit openly that it is fighting for anything other than precisely "humaneness"? Is not every law, every judicial authority, every prison likewise created in the name of "humaneness"? And what is "humaneness" or "neighbourly love"? Is it not the same as the manifestation of understanding and the practice of true justice or genuine human rights for every individual, every state and every nation?
