931. With regard to "conception", we have shown that it constitutes a "receiving" of energy, vibration or force from outside. But if there is a "receiving" of life-energies from outside, there must likewise be a "giving" of this energy. And just as the living being can experience the culmination of the sensation of pleasure by "receiving" energy from outside, so can it also experience the culmination of joy by giving its own qualities or forces to another being, introducing them into this being's mental and physical area. And just as the "receiving" of the life-giving energies was a culmination of the sensation of sensual pleasure, the act of giving out or sending energy is similarly the experience of the greatest wonder in life or the universe. Just as it was the culmination of happiness for the receptive partner to rest in the arms of their loved one and to feel this being's life and energy permeating them, it is also the culmination of the highest well-being to be the embracing partner in the natural act and to allow all of one's sympathy to stream into the deepest and most secret bodily and mental terrains and spheres of a loved one, bringing light and warmth to them with one's soul's most concentrated sunshine, life and joy. Where in life is there a greater sensation than where the giving partner senses the receptive partner's opening of their spirit's most intimate channels through which streams the whole of their being, life and strength? Where is the sensation of "being one" with another being more perfect or more joyous than in the divine union or melting together of two beings' mutually desired giving out and receiving of each other's most intimate being? And where is "the image of God after his likeness" more accessible to the senses or more perfectly manifested than in this very melting together of the beings in mutual culminating love? And must not all darkness be impossible within this intimate act of love in the same way that night is impossible on the sun? Only where the radiance of the sun can be shut off can night reign supreme. And only where love is not given out and not received can there be "weeping and gnashing of teeth". Wherever love culminates in giving out and receiving, only paradise, happiness and blessedness can dwell.
      As we have seen, "conception" represents not only a "receiving" of energy, but also a "sending" or "giving out" of energy. This "giving out" of energy we will express in "Livets Bog" as "life substance no. 8".
