940. Regarding "life substances 7 and 8" or the I's "receiving" and "giving out" of energy, these represent the third stage of the function of the will, that is to say, "knowledge C". Each of these functions is thereby rooted in its own spiritual organ or in its own "talent kernel", through which the form of its "giving out" and "receiving" of energy, and thereby the way in which its fate is formed, becomes individual and distinctive. The "talent kernel" for the "giving out" of energy shall be expressed as being identical to the "masculine pole" and the "talent kernel" for the "receiving" of energy as identical to the "feminine pole". These two poles we will call respectively "life substances nos. 17 and 18".
