977. As we have seen, the reality that lies behind the story of the "Fall" is radiant light. The "Fall" is a distorted account of the technique of the reality with which the Godhead, and thus the living beings, promote the immortality of their lives or the eternal existence of their consciousness. This distortion of the account of the very technique of immortality is therefore due to the originator of the account's total satiation with darkness, which has caused this originator to have become partial towards the contrast to darkness, namely light. But an account or analysis that is partial can be neither true nor just. Partiality constitutes a hidden weight on the scales of justice. It camouflages the scale's point of balance in favour of the wishes of the one doing the weighing. This point of balance is therefore not an expression of what the thing actually "weighs" but of what the one who is doing the weighing wants the thing to "weigh". The weight is false. And a false weight or a false measurement is untrue and cannot therefore be just. As a result it becomes a clearly irrefutable fact that living beings are unfree beings, bound, to the degree that they are "partial", by the fetters of untruth. One should therefore particularly examine accounts that have been handed down, no matter what kind they are, before accepting them, because, to the degree that their originators have been partial towards the subject of the account, their account will be camouflaged or untrue in favour of this partiality at the expense of the absolute truthfulness or degree of justice of the account.
Since terrestrial human beings are now becoming particularly satiated with the first phase of the light, which is that phase of the light that they at one time considered the highest attraction and that they were enormously hungry for, what they are now hungry for is the final phase of the light and they are therefore partial towards this final phase. As a result they are proportionately unable to judge impartially in connection with the mental light. Their partiality constitutes to a certain extent a hidden weight on their scales of justice. They exaggerate and embellish everything in favour of that phase of the light that they are now longing for, and undervalue and besmirch to a corresponding degree everything connected with that phase of the light that they are satiated with and that they want to be freed from. It becomes clear that such beings, due to this partial attitude of theirs, collide to a greater or lesser degree with the real truth. It is therefore impossible to find or experience the "real truth" until the being becomes totally impartial towards everything and everyone. Only then can it have a sense of justice and be consequently one hundred per cent loving towards absolutely everything and everyone.
