If we state, as absolute, physical answers, that neither "eternal involution", "eternal evolution" nor an "eternal spiral cycle" exists, and if we also teach, as absolute, physical answers, that neither love nor divinity or the like exists then we are guilty, as shown above, of a rather dangerous infringement of the laws of logic. Indeed, greater intellectual abnormality cannot be manifested in the fields in question. Our identity as victims of muddled thinking or mental confusion in relation to the explanation and understanding of the analyses of temporality and eternity in "Livets Bog" is thus obvious. And it is precisely in order to stabilise the honest and mature researcher's understanding of the cosmic analyses in "Livets Bog" and ensure the consequent proper use of these analyses that we here begin this new volume by emphasising in particular how these analyses are to be understood and from what point of view things are an illusion, and from what point of view they are reality, because without this understanding what the readers will get from these analyses will to a greater or lesser extent be muddled thinking, a phenomenon that is all the more dangerous for the reader since it will often, if he is still spiritually immature, appear immediately as "guardians of the threshold".
      Muddled thinking or misunderstanding of the highest analyses of life will thus in this case place a more or less opaque, dark, dank mental fog over the real truth that lies hidden in the wording of the analyses. And for this researcher these wordings will then become merely empty shells. And instead of meeting the real and absolute truth that lies hidden in the wordings of the analyses, he now meets merely the shadow of his own unfinished consciousness or his juggling with the empty shells.
      And it is in order to remove as much as possible of the shadow of this muddled thinking and misunderstanding from the reader's path towards truth and life that we have so very thoroughly time and time again gone into the details of the living being's life, partly as "X analyses", partly as "substances of life" or "fixed points" and "basic answers" and partly as "temporal" analyses. But let us add at once that the complete understanding of the highest analyses of life and thereby the experience of the highest truth cannot possibly be acquired merely by reading these analyses. It comes only from living them. Reading can give a disciple a theoretical basis for exercising his will in contact with the perfect way of being and the law of love. But practising this use of the will is the only thing that can open the disciple's consciousness completely to life's greatest initiation, namely, a personal experience of the eternal facts, his own immortal existence as being one with the Godhead.
