A "common sex" or the organic structure behind "neighbourly love". The "perfect human being"
1133. A higher "love" thus exists, a "love" that makes beings love not only the "opposite sex" but also their "own sex". But just as love for the "opposite sex" can be promoted exclusively by virtue of an organic structure, so can "love" for "all beings" similarly be aroused only by virtue of an organic structure. "Sympathy" or "love" is thus not merely an act of will; like every other ability or capability, it has to be the result of the previous development of an organic structure specially suited to this purpose. This organic structure insists on being used. This insistence is felt in the individual as a desire, the satisfaction of which is in turn felt or experienced as "pleasure", as happiness and a feeling of joy. As we mentioned previously, the masculine being and the feminine being have a mutual, organic need for one another, this being the reason why they desire one another. The satisfaction of this desire became in turn the highest feeling of sensual pleasure or joy in living for the above-mentioned two beings. But this joy in living is clouded immediately by jealousy and envy towards beings of one's "own sex", who, in accordance with their organic structure, must inevitably be rivals for beings of the "opposite sex". But this darkness engendered by jealousy and rivalry, which means sorrow, hatred, suffering and war, is thus completely impossible, where the organic structure of the new form of love has been perfected. This organic structure is a result of the evolution of equilibrium between the being's two sexual poles: the feminine and the masculine. Since the feminine pole has become equal to the masculine pole in the "male being", this being is of course no longer a "male being". And when the masculine pole in the "female being" has developed to equal the feminine pole in this being, it is no longer a "female being". But the being has thereby totally ceased being a real "man" or a real "woman". But when the man is not a "man", and the woman is not a "woman", the male being is not a "male being", and the female being is not a "female being", the concept of the "opposite sex" as well as the concept of one's "own sex" ceases to exist, since the two sexes no longer exist. A "new sex" has thereby arisen, in which the two poles, the masculine and the feminine, are in balance and manifest themselves with equal force. Since all beings on the plane of existence of this "sex" represent this particular sexual state, this can rightfully be termed a "common sex".
Since no "opposite sex" exists on the plane of existence of this "sex", no competitive rival to such a sex can arise. And everything that we know under the concept of jealousy or envy and the other manifestations of animal nature connected with this, such as hatred, persecution, war, sorrow and suffering, cease therefore to exist here. This darkness, as we will see, originates exclusively in the beings' one-poled sexual state.
The "male being" and the "female being", the "man" and the "woman", are thus, for the beings on the plane of existence of the perfect "common sex", a "larval stage" of the past. The terrestrial "man" and "woman" will thus gradually slough off its animal skin and, as a new, radiant and sparkling being, hereby take possession of the continents of the Earth. Through the transformation of the sexual polar constellation in "man" and "woman" we see here the beginning of the revelation on the Earth of "the kingdom that is not of this world", and in which one "does not marry". Here the "perfect human being", the goal for all terrestrial endeavour, begins to rise above the horizon in the distance.
