1136. The organic, sexual structure of a perfect being thus differs from that of a "male being" or a "female being" in that it reacts to its "neighbour" regardless of which "sex" or normal specific being this "neighbour" happens to represent. This of course sounds very strange to the terrestrial human being whose appearance is as yet very pronouncedly that of a "man" or a "woman", since it is of course unable to connect "sexual reaction" with any form other than that which exists between a "male being" and a "female being". They thus do not yet understand at all that any sympathy whatsoever, regardless of what kind it may be, is nothing other than "a feeling of sexual pleasure", that is, a kind of "sexual enjoyment". "Motherly love", "family love", "true friendship", "comradeship" and the like are a modified radiation of absolutely the same "feeling of pleasure" as that which reaches a climax in the copulatory act of the "male" and "female being". There is only one sympathy or one kind of love in the universe, but it is manifested in the form of all the degrees and nuances, methods and principles that are necessary for the creation of the great spiral cycle's gradation or creation of the colouring of the experience of life. So-called "love" is thus in the absolute sense "a feeling of sexual pleasure". The urge to "love" can be manifested exclusively in the form of "caresses". "Caressing" in turn aims at creating a "pleasurable reaction" in the one being caressed. A "pleasurable reaction" can be attained only through touching the recipient's mental and physical senses, which means its organism. This touching thus gives rise to "sensual pleasure". And what else is the "sexual act" between a "male being" and a "female being"? Is its aim not exactly the same? Does this act not also give rise to a mutual "pleasurable reaction" in the senses of those involved? Is this act not an act of "caressing"? When two friends shake one another's hands warmly by way of welcome or on parting, or a mother kisses her son or daughter likewise by way of welcome or on parting, an "exchange of caresses" is taking place, which in principle is exactly the same as the sexual act between a "male being" and a "female being". Both situations are "sexual reaction", but with the difference that while a "male being" and a "female being" caress one another with only the "organs for caressing" created specifically for this purpose (the sexual organs), "caressing" in the other situations mentioned is not done with specific "organs for caressing" but, on the contrary, with other parts of the organism (the hands, the lips and the cheeks). Since these other parts of the organism in a "male being" and a "female being" are not designed specifically for "caressing", "caressing" with these parts of the organism, cannot of course be as sensitive or give such a great "sensation of pleasure" as that produced by the organs that are specifically intended for this purpose, these being organs that possess the organism's strongest and most perfect material sensitivity to "pleasurable sensation" through direct contact. So this "caressing" cannot bring these beings to a climax unless they use these special organs.
