Livets Bog, vol. 4
Without the "highest fire" the "kingdom of God" or the promised "new heaven" and "new Earth, in which righteousness dwells" must be an impossibility in the universe
1142. Here we thus see before us the fulfilment of the promise of the "new heaven" and the "new Earth" that were to be the result of the "day of judgment". And this result is promoted through the terrestrial human being's incipient new form of "sexuality", which we call "neighbourly love" or the "highest fire". Without this "highest fire" any plane of existence or form of life above the animal kingdom would be an absolute impossibility. The perfect human kingdom, the true "kingdom of God", the "new heaven" and "new Earth in which righteousness dwells" could not even be a lovely fantasy, a beautiful dream, a wonderful mental mirage, but must eternally constitute a "nothing" in the universe, quite apart from the fact that, with nothingness as its identity, it would render impossible the existing cycle and thereby all life. And the manifestation of the "something" that today constitutes the universe, the living beings and the Godhead would likewise constitute an eternal, absolute "nothing". But the universe, the living beings and the Godhead are not an eternal "nothing", but an "eternal something". We must therefore return to our analysis of the "highest fire", "neighbourly love" or the new form for sexuality, which is so definitely indispensable to the eternally continued existence of the universe or life.
