1150. In order to "increase" or multiply the terrestrial human beings procreation is needed, which means, family life. And in order to "subdue" the Earth "art" is needed. What then is "art"? "Art" is the ability to incarnate "high-intellectuality" in matter. "High-intellectuality" is in turn a combination of mental matter or energy in which intelligence and feeling, among other things, are in equilibrium or balance; such equilibrium or balance in the consciousness makes any outburst of irascibility or anger totally impossible. Such a balanced combination of the force or energy behind the will can lead to nothing but perfect creation or manifestation. What makes a manifestation or creation imperfect is nothing but an unfortunate combination of the above-mentioned energies behind the exercise of the will. If there is too much "feeling" in relation to "intelligence" the process of creation or the manifestation will ultimately be illogical, just as exactly the same will be the case if there is too much intelligence in relation to feeling behind the exercise of the will. Behind every creation or manifestation there must first be a desire for this manifestation or creation. But this desire is guided solely by the will. For the terrestrial human being this is in turn the mobilised combination of two of the energies of consciousness, namely "feeling" and "intelligence". This combination can, as previously mentioned, contain far too much "feeling" in relation to "intelligence" or far too much "intelligence" in relation to "feeling".
