When there is too much "intelligence" in relation to "feeling" behind the exercise of the will
1152. The above-mentioned calamity is of course in evidence too when the combination of energies or forces behind the being's exercise of will displays far too much intelligence in relation to feeling. The being then uses its will in the most subtle, intellectual way to bring about the creation or manifestation that is the object of its desire. By virtue of its relatively superior intelligence the being has a certain ability to foresee any obstacles or unpleasantnesses that could arise from the creation of the manifestation that is the satisfaction of the desire, and can thereby to the same degree prevent them. It can camouflage its intention for beings who would otherwise be its opponents, and create obstacles to the satisfaction of its desire. It can lie and induce such people to believe that its intention is something completely different to what it really is. It can lead these opponents into a trap and perhaps do away with them, thereby in a dark and unloving way removing any obstacles and satisfying its wish or desire. But a manifestation or creation that is camouflaged and is thus a lie, defrauds those in its surroundings and constitutes a false contact with them. But a false contact is a disharmony or dissonance in the harmony or the "fulfilment of the law" evinced everywhere by Nature itself. It thus constitutes a "wound", an "injury" or a "diseased part" in the great organism of life that the collective entirety of a being's surroundings always inevitably represents or constitutes. And since it is inevitably the "fulfilment" of the laws of life that an organism with all its might fights illness, wounds and injuries within itself, thereby restoring it to health, it is thereby also a fact that the above-mentioned organism or Nature will also "heal" the disharmony, the wounds and injuries created by an individual in the form of its camouflaged or false appearance or exercise of will in a way that is contrary to the laws of life. Displaying this form of intellectual activity in this way in order to satisfy one's desires makes the being the opposite of the organic structure of Nature or the meaning of life itself, whose absolute goal is nothing but the perfect "feeling of pleasure" that we already know as absolute "neighbourly love" or "universal love". But going against Nature's own creation of a "feeling of pleasure" for oneself must of course give rise to this "feeling of pleasure" being reduced. With its senses the individual feels this weakening or reduction of life's own manifestation of the true "feeling of pleasure" as a corresponding amount of suffering or a correspondingly unhappy fate.
